Funny when it's funny, but almost consistently cringe-worthy as well.

This is a funny, moving story about a guy who wants to find himself. It's an easy read, and I don't mean that as a dig - the story flows well and is certainly relatable if you've ever questioned why you were here and sense of purpose. My main issue with the book is how slight the story actually is. Most of the book is concerned with the MC's desire to get laid. The female characters, especially, are described in very broad strokes.  After a while I kind of wished he would grow up and get on with his life, stop chasing after unrealistic relationships. There were deeper questions here to explore and this might have been a more reflective quest about what it means to not have found your mission in life if it wasn't so consumed by bad sex scenes and sometimes infantile behavior and language. Where the author went for high comedy often made me cringe.

Having to read the trials and tribulations of a white hippy from a middle class family was both painful and entertaining.
