Honestly a lot of the things I love about Beauty and the Beast retellings didn't seem to flow in this particular one. At some points I found beast to be incel-ish, for lack of a better term. I didn't particularly care for the dream aspect, as the way it was set up made me feel like Isabeau fell for the dream version instead of the Beast, and I feel that ruins some of the beauty of the story. She is supposed to love him as a beast, despite the beastlyness. Also I think Beast loses his "selflessness" when the only reason she came back was so similar to the situation her father had just put her in. It seemed a "Im only here because you were going to die/kill yourself otherwise " and I don't find that a particularly enthralling start to a relationship.
