This was a really good. I am so glad that this series still has a lot to to with the characters of the Demonica Series, because I fell in love with them just like I fell in love with the characters of this series. Larissa Ione is a phenomenal writer. I love reading her books. I rate this a 5 because it's so good! I started reading it yesterday and finished it yesterday because I literally couldn't put it down. Ares' personality is very conflicting, he tries to not care because of how badly he's been hurt in the past but he can't help but care for Cara. I love Cara she is very caring to everyone and understanding, but at the same time she doesn't take anyone's crap. Cara is a very brave and courageous person who didn't know it until she was faced with difficult situations. The sex scenes were very detailed and enjoyable, get ready for mind blowing chemistry between Ares and Cara. They make such a great couple. She is strong where he is weak and vice versa. I love the story of the Four Men of the Apocalypse! It puts a great twist on it. If you haven't read this book, you should definitely read it, it's fantastic! I know that this series will get way better and can't wait to see what else is in store for the sexy Horsemen of the Apocalypse!

Awesome book, I loved how she put the characters from the Demonica series in with the Horsemen....it's like it's still the same series but just a different side of it, and more wicked and evil bad guys in this one than the last. Really COOL can't wait for the next book in December

Overall this was a pretty good start to a series. I liked the general concept of the four horsemen and their curses. That was something new and refreshing. The mythology and worldbuilding was great as well. Ione has created a very expansive world filled with a myriad of different creatures and species. The sex scenes were pretty hot and I was rooting for the couple by the end.

That was all the good stuff.

However, because this is a spin-off series there was a lot of time devoted to revisiting characters from the main Demonica series, and as I have only read one of those, and even that was some years ago, all of those sections were totally lost on me. That's when I found my attention wandering. Several times during this book my interest peaked and waned and peaked again. We'd suddenly swap to some characters (of which loads and loads were mentioned) who were recently mated and having a baby or just had some babies. And I'm sure if I had a clue who these people were it would be lovely to catch up with them. As it was, I was kind of bored. It's probably my own fault for reading a spinoff before the main series but I do also believe that Ione was a little overindulgent in her "name dropping" of Demonica cast members. You have to assume not everyone will know who these people are.

Also, because this is a well established world with a full series worth of worldbuilding under it's belt, a lot of that same info dumping had to be shoved into this one book and it was a lot to absorb.

So my advice would be that this is a good series, and even though you can follow the plot easy enough without reading Demonica first, in terms of enjoyment, I think mine would have been upped exponentially had I read them the correct way around.

I'm still going to carry on with the next book and hope that a lot of these issues will be gone or at least lessened.

wasn’t in the mood for soooo much theorizing in the beginning. I’ll try again in the future.

This started out as a 5 Starr read, I loved it, the characters, the story line. I havnt read a paranormal romance in a while & I loved the aspects of creating another world, but then the book began to drag & slow burn or slow pace books aren't my favorite, so I rated it a 4 star personally but the storyline & characters are definitely a 5 star.

I love Larissa Ione, she is an amazing author. This world she created is so well-done and different! I just couldn't wait to read these! It was worth it! This book had action start to finish, and never slowed down! The characters were fun and quirky, and I fell in love with them right away! The conflict is really well planned and thought out, and really works. Cara is such a strong, fun character, and I loved reading from her perspective. This book was constantly moving, but it flowed, rather than jump around. Learning about the horseman was fun and interesting, and Pestilence is a great enemy for the horseman! This was an amazing book, I hope that this series can meet, or even surpass my expectations! I can't wait to read the next!

I don't think I'm the target audience for this. I think the author's RP group is the target audience.

I will admit that the premise of this book is a little odd, but the story worked. Ares, the second horseman of the apocolypse, who has lived for 5000 years is trying very hard not to start the apocolypse. He is forced to protect a woman that he originally thought of as weak. I loved this story and the characters. Although this is a spin-off of her Demonica series, which I will have to go back and read the remaining books from, I wasn't lost starting on this series. I cried throug the last 50 pages of the book not knowing how it was going to end and felt the emotions of the characters. I will definitely be reading the rest of the books in this series.
