I liked that there wasn’t a 3rd act breakup - there wasn’t a lot to really sell Wren’s and Lincoln’s love for each other, as family drama took up most of the story, but they had a solid relationship. That’s where the positive ends. Everything else in the book was problematic. Armstrong getting away with everything, keeping his job, especially in the age of #metoo is unfathomable. Lincoln, the more emotionally healthy of the two brothers, knows of no other way to deal with Armstrong than violence, while at the same time admitting that Armstrong is the way he is because he was raised by their psycho mother. Every woman in the book was neatly put into either the “good girl” or “slut” column, and accusations of being a gold digger was flung at at least three women. So many cringe-worthy tropes.

I inhaled this book. Though lots of parts were very cliche, they weren’t forced and fit the bigger picture of the novel. I would recommend!!
Moderate: Infidelity and Death of parent
