I really enjoyed this...I think that I was expecting more of a heavy BDSM book, and this was just very sweet. Sometimes too sweet for me, with how Devon treated Chase and a bit unbelievable at times, but overall I did enjoy this. LOVE the cover! If you want a sweet story, don't let the cover or thought of hardcore BDSM dissuade you from reading this story.
Really enjoyed this book. Glad to see that even with everything Chase went through he didn't question him self in what he really wanted. Well written characters.
A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Audiobook Review:
Rating: 3 stars out of 5
This story was nice but I can’t say it was really good. You know from the beginning that Devon rescues Chase and falls in love with him all while Chase falls in love with Devon. But there is the added tension of Kingston, who is quite crazy from the sounds of it.
We see this story through both Chase and Devon’s eyes which gives us a good idea of what they are thinking and feeling. Chase is a natural sub and easily submits to Devon’s Dom but this is the first time he has ever been cherished or treated well as a sub. Devon has a hard time believing that Chase could actually really want him, they kept talking about him being older but when I would run through the timeline in my head he couldn’t be more than 5 years older than Chase. Devon had a strong family of his friends around him and they quickly adopted Chase into the fold. There was just something missing to this story to make it really good, but I can’t quite tell you what it was.
John Anthony Davis did a nice job narrating this story. I was able to keep track of the story and characters with the different voices he used. However, he often used a softer voice tone which didn’t match with what I often though Devon would sound like as a Dom.
Cover art by Paul Richmond is nice and works well for this story

I enjoyed this story. Devon is a sweet, caring Dom who adapts to suit what he feels Chase needs to heal his wounds. This enables Chase to trust in Devon's consistency of safety and warmth.
I found it a bit strange that Devon didn't seem to know what was going on in his club, and went against his better judgment in trusting employees that were not shown to be trustworthy. He seemed to trust his intuition well enough while dealing with Chase, and what the boy needed, but wouldn't trust his gut when hiring staff to ensure the safety of his customers? Didn't really click for me.
I enjoyed the slow build with their relationship. It would be only natural for an abuse survivor to be extremely jumpy and frightened, and Devon understood this and kept things at Chase's pace.
The way the two were tied together didn't really mesh for me, but I suppose the villain was a nut job, so it's only fair that his reasoning wouldn't make much sense.
Overall it was a sweet story, with some nice sexy bits. Not much BDSM. Some Discipline when Chase needed it, but everything else was quite light. This would be a great intro into the M/M BDSM genre for those who are thinking about taking the plunge, but don't want anything too extreme.
**Trigger warning** There is some abuse in the beginning, and some violence as part of the plot.

This is objectively a good story, well written and respectful of the BDSM lifestyle, but it also turned out to not be my type in terms of pacing and content, so I can only give it 3 stars.
