I really enjoyed the premise of the story, which follows a group of trick-or-treaters that get swept up by a mysterious man to discover the origins of Halloween through time and space.
Once again, Bradbury manages to give the story a beautiful, nostalgic vibe bringing back childhood memories of past Halloween, while still showing some less beautiful truths about these celebrations.
The story itself though was a bit too fast-paced for my taste and didn’t give me enough time to appreciate it fully. It was still the perfect read for a gloomy Halloween day!

Feels like something written for children and could sometimes feel like a lesson. I imagine it as a script for a children’s Halloween special more than anything else

SO good!! A great, unusual take on Halloween and the illustrations in this edition made is spectacular. Amazing story, so much fun to read. This one might just have to be a yearly Halloween read...

Was pretty much thinking of giving this a 4.5 star review until those last two chapters. It is geared toward a younger audience but it is terribly moving and beautifully written much like many other Bradbury works. An ending that makes up for any juvenile feelings of the first few chapters.

All of the history in this book was very interesting, but it felt like reading a MadLib, if that makes sense. Hard to follow, and written in a confusing and repetitive enough way to make it boring.

This is my first ray Bradbury so take that with a grain of salt.
