~read for theatre class~

An interesting (although at times, overt) allegory for the rise of fascist conformity in Nazi Germany. Ionesco is very good at writing paralleling dialogue, where two conversations unfold on opposite sides of the stage and work to tell the audience something without engaging verbally. I've read that Durand was supposed to represent Sartre's mild reaction and subsequent justification to Stalin's communism but if I'm honest that is not something I picked up on myself. Overall it was well executed but a bit too obvious at times.
