I loved this book. First noticed it because of Nancy Pearl's Book Lust Rediscoveries series, so picked it up. It's the perfect read for someone who really enjoys a book based on character and the writing style. I found Savage's style fresh and different, and enjoyed following the small, circumscribed lives of these five young girls in mid-century Montana.
If you're looking for fast-moving plots, look elsewhere. This is the one for people who love style and the interior lives of characters.

This is a Book Lust Rediscovery (published by Amazon). I was interested because Nancy Pearl claimed Savage created a strong sense of place, which is one of my favorite characteristics in a book.
However, I didn't really get the sense of Missoula that the hype led me to believe.
Despite that it's a great story.
