This book gave me all the nostalgic feels (having done a PCT thru hike attempt in 2019). Reading this book felt like a quick highlight tour of the trail. It also gave a nice general - if a tad erratic and truncated - view of what trail life and the trail community is like.
The writing definitely feels a bit clunky; like excerpts from a journal were pieced together and edited to sound like a whole narrative about their trip. The result leaves the writing choppy and repetitive. Granted, trail life IS repetitive but the writing doesn’t have to be.
The dialogue also feels really canned and wooden. It’s there to serve the function of explaining what they are thinking, feeling, and experiencing but it didn’t feel smooth and natural, which took away from the story a bit.

Overall, not the best PCT thru hiking book. But also not the worst.
