The Contract is the second journal novella and mostly centers around Rebecca receiving a contract from the Master and deciding whether or not to sign it. In The Contract, things are going well for Rebecca at the gallery. She is starting to gain more responsibilities and is enjoying her work. We get to see more of a few well known characters, some as Rebecca is meeting them for the first time. I really loved getting to see how Rebecca sees everyone and her thoughts and feelings in comparison to Sara's. As Rebecca is settling into her job though, thoughts of her Master and the contract take over most of her thoughts and she struggles with the decision she knows she must make. Regardless of her attraction and growing feelings for her Master, there are things in the contract that bother her. Her Master is determined to convince her that they can start off gentle and ease into things, and he begins to show her exactly why she should take the risk and say yes. Rebecca begins to open herself up to her Master and finds herself doing things for him that she had never though of doing for anyone before. This novella begins to show Rebecca's growth and her acceptance of becoming a submissive, and I found it fascinating to read her thoughts and feelings rather than just witness the scenes like you would in a normal story. Lisa Renee Jones continues to show her genius by using these journal entries to dig deep into the story and offer a different way of telling her story through multiple character's POVs.

Rebecca’s Lost Journals are a brilliant concept. Part of The Inside Out Series, the short novellas keep you excited and intrigued while waiting for the second full length novel in the series, Being Me, to release in June. Each one of these novellas are written as journals, and they are the journals that Sara, the main character in If I Were You never found. Rebecca’s Lost Journals 2: The Contract, is the second novella and third installment in the series.

The mystery in If I Were You is “What happened to the woman who wrote the journals? Who was Rebecca’s Master?” No, we still don’t have an answer, but a few more hints are dropped. Personally, I think the crafty Ms. Jones is dropping all these hints to throw us off, but it is fun reading about and trying to figure out anyway.

In this novella, Rebecca is left to mull over the submissive contract she received from “The Master”. As Rebecca goes over each point of the contract, she knows they are all too much for her, but she still can’t stop thinking of Him. She finds herself thrown off balance and not really sure of anything.

“I’ve gone from having virtually no men in my life to being surrounded by powerful, talented, rich, controlling men, and it’s messing with my head. I can’t seem to figure out where I stand and where I belong.”

One thing we do know for sure is Rebecca is involved with someone she has work dealings with.

“You will call me ‘Master’ when we’re alone,” he instructed next…”In public, we remain as we are. What we are beyond that is between us.”…And how am I to separate the times we meet for work with this?

There are a few encounters with the Master, hot scenes that include risk of being caught and menage.

Likes:
-The author keeps us involved in the story and wanting more.
-The author drops tons of hints, while giving some crafty misleading clues as well.
-Little hints are dropped here and there, and while I think we are supposed to be thinking one way, maybe that’s to easy, or maybe she wants us to think it’s too easy? LOL
-The diary format is a very unique read.

Dislikes:
-I felt very detached from the totally hot sex scenes. They did nothing for me.
-The book ends at 74%, where there is another preview of If I Were You.

Rating: 4.5 Stars (for a novella) 4 for Heat

While I normally really don’t love the serial novel concept, I think this idea is brilliant, having little teaser novels between book releases just builds up the excitement more. And as a person who normally doesn’t pay attention to minute details, this series has me reading and re-reading to catch more details.
We know the Master is light, we know they have work relations, we know he is rich…..what do you guys think? I think Lisa Renee Jones is pointing to Mark, but it just seems too obvious. Theories? Ideas? Discuss it at www.anas-attic.com!

In this short novella that is only 40 pages long, we find that Rebecca is presented with a contract from the "Master". She is having a hard time dealing with what is in the contract and becoming submissive. She'll have to give over control to the person who wants her. She also is concerned that there may be other sub-missives that the Master has as well. She does not know if she wants to share him with others. So many questions go through her head, she's having difficulty accepting what the "Master" wants from her.
We get subtle hints on who could be the Master in this novella, but of course, Lisa Renee Jones still leaves us on the edge of our seat.
We will not be able to find out who he is until "Being Me".
If you have read "If I Were You", you definitely need to read these novellas of Rebecca's Lost Journals. You'll find hints for what is happening in "If I Were You" and what is up next in "Being Me".

This short novella definitely has you asking even more questions and wanting more answers to the Inside Out Trilogy.
I look forward to the next Lost Journals of Rebecca's. =)
Lisa Renee Jones does an amazing job of keeping us guessing until the next release comes out.

I feel like this book added to the plot and to Mark and Rebecca's story, but I thought that this segment was just okay. I'm ready to learn more. :)
