The Christmas Holiday by Maxine Morrey

When Mia Walker's boss asks her to document the dream pre-wedding tour of his daughter Olivia and her fiance Sandeep she jumps at the chance. Hopefully this will be her opportunity to move away from her current post writing the 'hatches, matches and dispatches' pages of his newspaper and become the travel writer she has longed to be. The only fly in the ointment is that Mia's former fiance, Hunter, will be joining them on the trip to photograph it and he is keen to encourage a choice of anyone other than Mia for the writing post. They will have to get through two months of globe trotting before returning to London for a lavish Christmas wedding so Mia must grab the opportunity with both hands and get along with Hunter if the tour is to be a success.
The travel in this book is wonderful. The four jet around the world experiencing the sights and sounds of India, the USA, Malaysia and Scotland. They take part in extreme sports, shop, relax and eat in some of the most wonderful locations. A classic case of how the other half lives! All four of the main characters are wonderful and, while we may not get to know Olivia and Sandeep as much as Mia and Hunter, they are incredibly likable and warm characters.
Hunter is a romantic hero to swoon over. Impossible not to fall in love with. The way he and Mia butt heads speaks of secrets that they haven't shared with each other and it's clear that they are two people who need to talk to each other more rather than assuming they know what the other means. Mia herself is lovely. She's very driven, motivated by a damaging childhood with a father who treated her mother awfully.. She's funny, clumsy and very endearing.
You know from the outset where this book is going but the way in which it gets there is so lovely to read. The period of time it is set over and the exotic locations kept me turning the pages and I finished the book in one sitting. Christmas does feature, especially in the backdrop to Olivia and Sandeep's magical wedding, but it isn't a Christmas novel per se. It's simply a wonderfully romantic and engaging book which I didn't; want to finish. I will definitely be seeking out more books by Maxine Morrey.

I absolutely loved this book! An amazing second chance romance about Mia and Hunter!

I could sense that even after Mia breaking off their engagement, both her and Hunter still had some hidden feeling for one another!

This novel is absolutely adorable (although I must say that it isn't very festive - or at least not enough for my Christmas-obsessed self). I really liked the places that are visited by the characters, because they truly add something more to the story. The characters are all complex, realistic and interesting, which made the story even more real to me. The relationship between Mia and Hunter is also realistic and pretty cute, to be honest. I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a cute and travel-themed read!

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Adorable second chance romance that takes around the holidays, but isn't focused on them. More of a travel romance, but that's okay.

Loved the characters (including the supporting characters).
