While I loved the Percy Jackson series as a child, upon rereading the series, I found this book feeling weak. Perhaps it's because the characters had already been established, but the story line and plot development felt very predictable; there was no doubt that Percy and Annabeth would go on their quest, and upon his unusual introduction, it was clear that Tyson would end up having something to do with the book's mythological world. Aside from predictable nature, I did enjoy this book, but still recognise it as a weak point in the series.
