Shakedowners

This is basically Star Trek crossed with Douglas Adams. Not all of the jokes land, but enough of them do. Also, the author was clearly having a lot of fun writing this and I found that infectious.

I think I bought this book when it was in reduced on Amazon and it sat on my to be rash pile for quite some time
My first impressions is that it is witty and fast paced this place continues throughout the novel.
This is much more action based or story based novel than I generally enjoy although made a change to my reading habits. because of this, I did find myself quite enjoying the time I spent in this space opera.
I like the plot twist I haven’t predicted it
The novel is highly visual and I think it would make a great TV series

I really really enjoyed this one. The humor and sarcasm reminded me a lot of John Scalzi and Andy Weir. The characters were all so different, and so fun to root for. The final chapters were exciting, and definitely lived up to the build-up. I even liked how this book broached the almost-taboo subject of
Earth being utterly destroyed.
You don’t really see that in many sci-fi books or movies!! Usually,
Earth remains the hub of all human advancement and production.

Great for fans of Star Trek.

Amazing! Iconic! The exact thing to feed my Douglas Adams sized hole in my heart! Literally perfect. I cannot wait to devour more !!

Good.  A smooth cliff hanger.  I'll read again.

The shakedowners are a crew that are sent out to test new spaceships and iron out any kinks in them and find flaws. This story centres on the captain of the crew as he navigates his was through a threat to civilised existence using the fleet's newest starship. I found this a light-hearted and easy to read space adventure that was mildly amusing bit didn't quite become properly funny despite aiming to replicate the whimsical style of authors like Douglas Adams or John Scalzi.

A really nice break from serious sci fi. I loved starship captain Iridius Franklin - a little bit James T. Kirk, a little bit Galaxyquest, a little bit [b:Redshirts|13055592|Redshirts|John Scalzi|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1348617890l/13055592._SX50_.jpg|18130445], and altogether fun. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
