Audiobook - 5 hours 18 minutes - I thought this was a good representation of teen suicide - it wasn't oversensationalised, and I liked how it wasn't caused by a simplistic list of reasons, like in other media I could name. The perspective of an older sister was interesting to read from, the way she blamed it on herself even though she didn't know the reason why her brother took his own life. However, there were some parts that fell a little flat to me - I wasn't too keen on the subplot with Sadie talking about ghosts. I was scared that the book would lean into this too much, bordering on paranormal, which impacted my enjoyment of the book somewhat, but I am glad that that wasn't the way it was written.

Reading about grief is never easy to do. Sometimes it brings up feelings that you want to avoid. I think Cynthia Hand did a great job at showing Lex struggling with the death of her brother, and shows all the stages she goes through. As a reader, it was as if I was experiencing the same pain that she was. However, this is not rated higher for me just because it took so long to get into the story. I was probably 50% of the way into the book before it really got going for me.
