This is Marjane Satrapi’s story of growing up in Iran during the war between Iran and Iraq. It is heartbreaking and informative and I think everybody should read it.

It is important to learn about different cultures and histories and this exemplifies that.

I love the art. The simple, black and white depictions of such horrific events, really brings it down to the perspective of a child being reared in a politically unstable environment.

Endearing and deeply distressing. A powerful read.

I do not think there's any words to accurately capture the story Marjane Satrapi not only
Manage to put into words, but illustrate as well. This violent, confusing history being experienced and lived by someone so young, and still being
able to candidly & authentically capture a snapshot of history, one parts that intertwined so many people’s stories of growing up in
Iran under the Islamic Revolution, people whose stories that many of us would never hear or be able to begin to understand is a tragically beautiful skill. Thank you for opening my eyes, my heart and my mind.
