I did like this book a lot, not as much as the second one though. My main issue with it is that it could’ve been split into two normal sized books which could’ve been a lot easier to get through.

Despite this one feeling longer and a bit slower than the previous books, it might have been my favorite? I like how Tamlin's character evolves, I like the twists, I like the complicated politics of the war and everyone's relationships.

I really enjoyed this read. After reading ACOMAF, I was wondering if this one would live up to that book. It’s a tall order, but I thoroughly enjoyed this.

I enjoyed that this book had a lot more politics involved, with all of the courts involved and getting to learn their backstories.

I’m interested to see what happens with the other queen and also Tamlin. Even though he had some redemption this book, he’s still not a great person and deserved what happened to him and that he lost everything.

Really happy with Nesta’s character arc this book and really liked getting to know her more as a character. I feel like we still haven’t really gotten to see Elain so we’ll see how her story progresses in the next few books.

The ending had me sobbing when their dad showed up with the 3 ships and at his death. I will say, I felt almost.. disappointed that everyone else lived?? Like, there needed to be a larger sacrifice, something super heart wrenching. I really thought she was going to leave Amren gone. I knew Rhys wasn’t going anywhere so while it was hard to read, I wasn’t overly worried. I was pretty sure either Cassian or Azriel would be casualties and was surprised Maas wrote everyone to live.

I get that this series has its issues, and that some writing choices are mind-numbing and just plain odd, but I sat down and read this 700 page book in two sittings. Troublesome or not, it swept me away and didn’t let me up until the last page. I am deeply disappointed in Morrigan’s resolution, or lack thereof. I hope that if the series continues, she gets more character growth and less trauma. Also, there is no way in hell any kiddo should read this. I’m a sex positive person, but would be seriously pissed if my early teen grabbed this fantasy book from the library when it’s essentially light erotica. But I am decidedly NOT a teen, and enjoyed it a bunch ;)
