I have mixed feelings. I mean, half way through Catching Fire I began to loose interest but still I hoped for more, and yes, while it did eventually come, I feel like Mockingjay was a lot more rushed but also slowed at the same time. In the middle, I had absolutely no idea what was going on (thats probably my fault), but everything just felt off. Like Suzanne could've still done better, and the way she kept on just killing off people to me felt like
she just intended on creating more drama simply for the sake of it. I understand why she was doing it, but it wasn't done well enough. The ending was ehhhh to me. I guess overall my favorite part was probably the last page, simply because Peeta finally got the love he was constantly giving to Katniss back, but I was do tired of hating Katniss for playing with Gale and Peeta's emotions that I really didn't care as much as I could've.

This is such an amazing series. Amazing book and series. It's so sad and yet you can derive so much meaning from it in the current state of our world. We lose so many loved ones because of the stupidity and the carelessness and the coldness of others. All of us running around killing each other, for what?

I just think that this series has such meaning and it's one of the few books that actually made me cry. At then end, when they were talking about the book Katniss wanted to make, and who lost their lives, I literally cried because SO MANY good people died in these books. I think one of the saddest for me was for Finnick though. I found myself really liking him and that was very sad for me, especially since he just recently was able to reunite with his love and get married. The timing of it is just heartbreaking.

Despite all of the bad things that happened though, I was really happy by the very last words of this book (not including the Eplilogue):

Peeta: "You love me. Real or not real?"
Katniss: "Real."

So emotional! After all they've been through and all they still have to overcome, they are finally together in the end, and that was so happy for me.

The love part of this book was a hard one because Gale was a good person to Katniss, as was Peeta. But I was always rooting for Peeta and I think that Katniss describes perfectly at the end of this book why she needs him as opposed to Gale in her life in that way.

The overall theme of this book is so depressing and strange and still a bit confusing. But I am so happy with this series. It's one of the best I've read in a long time and I'm so happy to have had the privilege to read it from beginning to end.

I was right when I assumed that Catching Fire was going to be my favorite part of The Hunger Games trilogy. It wasn't that Mockingjay wasn't good, because it was. The problem was that it just didn't live up to the expectations of the two books before it. Maybe if it wasn't following in THG and CF's footsteps I wouldn't have seen it as somewhat of a let down. Maybe I'd think it was amazing because it was still a good book. But, there was a lot of high hopes in seeing how this was going to end, and it just didn't quite each them.

While I enjoyed Katniss' continued journey and the whole characters who were introduced at District 13, there were parts of the plot that felt draggy to me, as if they were only taking so long so they could prolong the conclusion for that much longer.

Like a lot of people, I found the ending kind of bland. After all the build up of the previous two books and how well done everything was, I expected something more. This book has this slow build up to the climax, only for it to feel suddenly over and everything is done, and Katniss needs to adjust to not being some sort of rebellion war hero. It almost gives you whiplash with how fast it seems to go down.

Also, hi, Enobaria. Nice to see you're still around. The book killed Finnick and I am not down with that. Gale and Katniss' departure was also kind of bland and invoked no emotion out of me. It was kind of like "oh, ok" and that was it, no more Gale. I mean, that was cool with me. I didn't really like Gale, like ever.

There was an epilogue tacked onto the end, which was about a page and a half long, and that was fine, but probably unnecessary. It was just one of those "oh hey look protag's still alive!" epilogues.

Overall, Mockingjay was alright, but it didn't seem like a fitting end of THG. I had wanted more from it, but what can you do?

I thought the last book of The Hunger Game series was excellent. I like how it focused more on the rebellion and less on how people were using Katniss as a pawn. Katniss' strength as a character is always her ability to think for herself. I also felt that Collins' was really free to pull no punches in this book which is why I'm rating it higher than the first 2. The other books always felt kind of manipulated to me so that this series could be a trilogy.
