A bit of a let-down considering the huge build-up from the previous issue, followed by a cross-over that wasn't particularly interesting if you didn't follow the other character's book. I'm hoping that this picks back up again for the finale.

We finally get an origin story of sorts and it's... mostly lacking. I wanted to love what they were doing, and it has some quick flashes of the origin story from The Boys, but the stakes feel weird and, perhaps more importantly, I didn't buy into the motivations of anyone involved here.

It all just kind of goes weird. I hate where this entire thing has gone.

Meh. We finally get the Plutonian's origin and (because I haven't read the companion series) meet another nemesis by the name of Max Damage whose origin is tied up in the Plutonian's past. This volume moves very slowly and focuses on the Plutonian and Max Damage, there is some messed up parenting in each of their backstories, with very different results on the characters, but I found myself unconvinced and uncompelled to find out what happens next.
