Sophie fell hard and fast for Jude when she was seventeen - but after her entire life blew up the night he drove high and killed her brother - she should definitely have left those feelings behind. Especially after living half a life for three years with her vacant mother and her bully of a police chief father. Jude will always be in love with Sophie. But he can’t ever be with her. And she should hate him and leave him and all his issues - and addictions - in the rearview mirror.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat - but without it being suspenseful or full of action. It was one of the most beautiful, angsty and gorgeous love stories I have read. Sophie is pure and kind but don’t for a second think she is a pushover. She has a core of steel and will stand up to anyone and everyone to protect - and love - Jude.

Jude loves Sophie and wants to keep her as far as he can from his own mistakes and addictions. (Which are core to the story and displayed with aching honesty and sensitivity.) The power of the pull of these two is magnetic and when they come together it is beautiful.

This story was bloody great. I enjoyed it so much. There was so much emotion and it wasn’t always pretty and people didn’t always make the best decisions.

I will admit, there were times I was a little... not so hyped. Her dad is just SO unforgivably evil, that he was almost... too evil? There was nothing that made me go oh, so he did all this because of xyz. Like, was it to save face? Was it because he was SO obsessed with his son? I’m legit so confused why he was so evil for so long. Also why was the fact he hit her and threw her around and into things not a bigger issue? That final confrontation scene, I expected Jude to run back in and deck him, and I would have insisted on her getting checked over etc. How did she not get hurt at all there? (Very glad her mother stepped up she was such a non character because of how she became that I didn’t care for her at all until that point).

I also had an issue with her being all upset over him not wanting her help with his addiction etc. It’s something he mentally needs to accomplish for himself, not for her to fix. As a social worker she was clueless, which was also the case at the hospital when he was so upset about the drugs. Why were all those medical professionals so stumped that he didn’t want the drugs? I cannot believe they’d never studied addiction or had one in or just someone who refused those kinds of drugs? EVER?

Other than those gems, I really loved this book. It was 100% my kind of book and I’m so glad to have read it. Now for the virgin hero :D

This was not my favorite. There was some disconnect and I didn’t really care about the characters. There was some excitement toward the end that made it a bit more interesting but overall I was not a fan.

Second in the series but third I read. I can say this needs to go on any re-read list, but I did think it was a good read. Wasn’t too bogged down in drama and flowed along well, so much better than the first in this series. Glad I overlooked and kept reading. It was pleasant enough so 4 stars for me.
