Really enjoyed this one. Favourite so far of the other seasons (but haven’t read winter yet) I could follow along with the story and characters more than other Ali smith books I’ve read. It was an easy one to read and quite moving in some parts.

It's always difficult when a book turns out to be good but simply not at all what you thought it'd be.
I was ready for a very atmospheric book filled with orange leaves and autumnal vibes. Instead I got.... Something else that's strange to describe.
I like the writing, the brexit references, the unlikely friendship, the talks about stories and art and imagination. But I couldn't really relate to the characters? I didn't feel emotionally connected to the story at all. It was just... Okay to read?
This isn't a bad book by any means, but maybe not the one I wanted or needed right now!
I'm still curious about the other books from this series, now that I know a bit more what to expect I think I might enjoy them more.
