A beautifully written book but has so much tragedy and missed opportunity. It reminded me too much of real life, when things get in the way and nothing works out the way you wanted to. Some people might like that but I do prefer something a little more unrealistic, where everything works out perfectly. The second Rosie’s twin brother died I knew I was in for a long, sad journey. Reading about grief has never been a favorite of mine as it reminds me so much of my own but I think the author did a wonderful job of capturing the complexities and the never ending cycle of grief. How it comes in waves, it changes your trajectory and who you are as a person, and how it causes consequences years later. All the missed opportunities with Will made me so sad. She could’ve been happier so much sooner. She could’ve not gotten married to someone else and delayed her happiness. It just makes me sad when there is so much time wasted. However after many years, they do make it back to each other in the final chapter and one can assume they finally have their chance to be happy together. I would give it 3.5 stars but good reads doesn’t let me do halfs. Really nice read if you don’t mind some heartbreak.

Made me think of my own life and how complicated and raw life can be to us.
