5 stars for Kanan and Hera!

Honestly only read this for the two lovebirds and I was not disappointed. Their interactions were truly the highlight of the story, though I enjoyed the bigger plot....once it finally started. It took over half the book to get into any sort of real action, so it was a slog at the beginning, but once the action started, it was never ending. I had lots of fun reading this, and that's really all I wanted out of this book so I left a happy reader!

(Stupidly deleted my first review because Goodreads is not always user friendly.)

Great characters, great villain, great setting, just great all around. A New Dawn is worth the time.

If I could give 1/2 stars this would so get a 3 1/2. It was a decent Star Wars book and a nice intro for new characters from the Rebels tv show.

I liked learning by how Kanan and Hera met. Obviously he was smitten with her from day one, but Hera being Hera means this is not a romance. Like the Rebels TV series, their live is just there, in the background, existing without being central to their relationship.

Vidian was an intriguing character. Not a fan of the ugly=bad trope, and he was a bit too similar to Grievous in some ways, but an interesting villain and a great way to give the readers insight into Empire politics. And Sloane was even better.
