I enjoyed this book for a different type of adult contemporary family drama/romance. Elle finds her deceased grandmother's journals and starts to read them. Her words make Elle think about the path her life is taking. Elle's dad recently passed away and her family seems to start to fall apart when her mom makes a decision about her own future. Elle takes over the family business in their small town and her ex-brother-in-law comes into her life again after many years.
The writing was very smooth and easy to read; Elle and Sawyer's (ex-brother-in-law) characters are pretty well developed, but more of Grandmother's past could have been revealed to tie into the present.
