Not only is this a sweet story, the illustrations are fantastic. The pencil sketches contrasts nicely with the few bits of color on each page--usually clothes or an animal other than a cow. Most background is done in pencil and feels very black and white. But those splashes of color really make the illustrations pop! I have decided upon this story for my Valentine's day Story time. In case anyone was curious.
