Author is no activist or at least he shows activist characters very unrealistically. Also of course POC are being described as POCs while whiteness isn't mentioned as it's seen as the norm. Furthermore I really can't get with the worldview transported in this story. Maybe it gets better later on but I really don't want to read further to find out

A very quick and gripping read. And that's the most positive thing I can say about this book. It's not very good. You can see that the author did some research. But the characters mostly remain very shallow and the story makes wild, illogical leaps. And the author felt to dump the results of his research onto the reader, which makes for clumsy reading. But it still managed to entertain me for a few hours, so there's that.

Definitely not the best (eco) terrorist thriller, but also not the worst. Not a very good book overall, but entertaining if you know what to expect.

I don't know if it was a great book, but it really kept me thinking a lot and I love when a book does that. When can you justify doing something violent for the greater good? Does Green Man the right thing? And Tom? Great story for discussion groups.

The Green Man is attacking sites in the US to highlight the damage done to the earth through climate change. All of his six attacks have led to innocent people, including children, being killed. Tom Smith is a new FBI computer analyst. He is sure that the task force set up to catch the Green Man is using the wrong tactics and tells Jim Brennan, the task force chief, exactly where they’re going wrong. Soon Tom is on the Green Man’s tail.

Lots of environmental and engineering information in this book. Easy enough to read but can’t say it was a real page turner.

Thanks to Netgalley, Michael Joseph and David Klass for the ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

This book was a great ride. I loved the character development and interaction, the POV changes, and the slow reveals - just enough work to do myself, just enough info given to me.

That said, I truly don't understand how the author could reconcile his knowledge that people who feel this strongly about climate collapse would not have children (a character literally says this) and then give the two main environmental characters children. And Green Man has two!!

Offensive, as a person who is in that boat. But I liked this so much I'm not even docking a star.
