Amazon emailed me about ‘Hitched’ because I had read and enjoyed other Kendall Ryan novels. The premise sounded interesting; I’ve read the ‘arrange marriage’ plot quite a bit in Regency novels so I wanted to see the modern equivalent.

Turns out, there isn’t a credible modern equivalent. Not only did it feel like a forced situation, but the whole novel was lacking substance and real emotion.

I don’t feel like we really got to know Noah or Olivia. All I saw from Noah was that he was lusty and concerned with only one part of his anatomy. Olivia wasn’t given a personality outside of her career so I couldn’t support her at all.
The attempts to push Noah and Olivia into a relationship and understanding were clunky and heavy handed. The bond over tea and the gifts felt so obvious and glued together. It didn’t feel like a fluid emotional development.

I nearly stopped reading when Noah whacks his ‘contract’ out in the corner of a pub and Olivia goes and has a gawk. What the hell was that?! Who does that ever!? Such a weird plot point.

The ending and the ‘bad guy’ wasn’t developed or even interesting. The ending lacked any tension.

Just really disliked everything about this book.

I was not impressed by this story. The two main characters are rich socialites, but Olivia is so stuck up snobby, I had zero empathy to what she was feeling through the whole arrangement set by their fathers. I found myself my caring at all by the end of the story.

Not bad for my first Kendall Ryan book. It's actually interesting this story is told in 3 parts/volumes and with that ending to this one I'm not hesitating at all to start bk/vol 2! What the heck!? I actually love Noah and Olivia and even though Noah may seem like a playboy womanizer who Olivia thinks he's slept with half of the city haha, in reality, there's a different side most people don't know about him and made me love him with his charm, soft and caring side, and his loyalty. Especially with an encounter between some guy talking trash about Olivia and Noah coming in to defend her. I need answers now so here's to jumping into the audio for the next part!
