Also very slow burn. And I felt like Lauren was different from how I remember her in Spoiler Alert. But that just could be my memory.
Spoiler alert made me really curious about Alex and Lauren and I guess it felt a bit flat for me. Because it takes place over so many months. It skips over a lot of banter and getting to know each other time. And that is my favourite time. It was a little too slow for me I guess. Slow-burn is not my favourite.
I love friends to lovers but it didn't really work for me in this one. Maybe also because of the miscommunication/third act break-up.
The translation was nice tho! It read really smooth. (But hated the amount of cursing!!)

I loved them. Alex and Lauren are so goofy together, I love that they found each others’ love languages in a perfect way. Alex’s favorite tropes are also my favorite tropes and I would read any of his fics any day.

Minor: Mental illness, Self harm, Suicide, and Vomit

Overall enjoyable…more good than bad, I’d say.
Definitely some problematic elements, especially surrounding the intense focus on Lauren’s appearance that didn’t let up from page 1 right through to the end of the epilogue. I also found Alex a bit infantile for a 39-year old and I don’t know if that was the best way to show his ADHD. Being a “delightful asshole” came across more grating than endearing at times.
But otherwise, I enjoyed the crossover timeline from Spoiler Alert and how they interconnected. I really liked the slow burn of Alex & Lauren’s relationship, plus the extra tidbits of the fanfics and playing up the romantic tropes on their road trip.

Review: When I first started reading, I was skeptical about how much I'd enjoy thus book, but I was proved wrong. ALL THE FEELS quickly became an all time favorite and Olivia Dade is now an auto-buy and a must read ASAP author. Due to my enjoyment of the story and the characters, the numerous tropes used, and moments between the main couple that hit home for me, I couldn't help but giving this 5 stars. Alex is the male main character, working as an actor on a popular show, but due to him getting caught in another scandal that will affect his already tarnished reputation, his management assigned him a minder, Lauren, to keep in check until the last episode airs. At first, Alex and Lauren are put off by each other but the forced proximity and personal conversations eased their relationship into something platonic and later on, romantic. Alex has ADHD and often feels his emotions at 100%. He does things impulsively without always thinking about the consequences but does so with good intentions. Lauren quickly realizes that there's more to Alex and his scandals may not be as bad as they seem or entirely his fault.
Immediate Thoughts After Reading: Nov 24, 2021: If I could stop crying about the last 150ish pages maybe I could write a coherent review. Anyways this is 5 stars and my new favorite book by Olivia Dade. My heart is screaming. Alex is in L O V E with Lauren. The cover has so many hints and symbols to the story. They remind me of a Tiktok couple. I am a very happy harpy. Goodnight.
Some of my Favorite Lines:
-"To quote a great leader, and I think I speak for all of is here: fuck you very much."
-"He didn't need more either. She was enough. She was everything, exactly as she was."
-"Whatever you want. However you want it. Nothing more, nothing less."
-"To all the little girls who learned to stay quiet and not take up space in the world. May you find your inner harpies and demand your due, at long last."
-"I dont carry about them, Wren. I want to look at you. I want to listen to you."
-"Because she was important. Too important to let herself be abused without consequence."
