This was more than just a great children's book. This was a witty, humorous book that is amazingly fun for adults to read. This is my first Terry Pratchett novel and I have fallen in love with his writing style. There are jokes around every corner! Moreover, Pratchett makes us get invested into the world he has created. Discworld was already on my to-read pile, but I'm definitely looking forward to picking it up having read this one. But first things first: Diggers: The Second Book of the Nomes.

Fun adventure with lots of the to be expected Terry Pratchett humor.

Oh, what a pleasant surprise!
I didn't expect this series to be good at all. After all, I thought I'd already finished all of Pratchett's best books (at least, my own favourites). This obscure YA trilogy wouldn't even have appeared on my radar if not for a reading challenge I was doing that required me to read two books from two series by the same author.
Truckers contains all of Pratchett's characteristically smart/witty observations on how society functions and how humanity can be found even in the smallest and most unexpected of things. Most of the gnomes (nomes) in the story live in a huge department store, which they see as their world - with 'Outside' being a mythical place where one goes after death. One day, however, a group of bedraggled, mostly elderly gnomes arrive, carrying a black 'thing' that speaks... and overturns their worldview.
This book is shelved as 'J' - belonging to the children's section (not even YA) - in Singapore, but I think it would actually be wasted on anyone younger than a precocious 11.
