Disclaimer: My reviews are about how I felt about the book and I don't go over plot much, so use other reviews for that if that's what you're looking for.
I have never read in my life so far, a book so well written as this one. That is saying so so much, so understand how absolutely amazing it is. Oliver and Elio and Elio's family are characters that are so special. So beautifully crafted. I can't believe how lucky I was to have a friend recommend and lend this to me. Here's the thing. It is a very raw book, nothing is held back. It is beautiful because of how real it is, how uncensored it is. If you know that you may not like books that are so uncensored that you may read things you may not want to, this might not be the book for you. However, I first got that impression, but as I kept on reading (because the writing and the story is just so damned good) I moved past that because I understood the book better.
The love that you read in this book is unlike probably any other you will read, in it's own way. It's just too hard to explain how great this book is. The Italian setting is a key part of this book. I so greatly loved feeling as if I was in the beautiful hills and coast of Northern Italy.
The movie is also great, but there are parts of the book that were taken out that were so lovely to read. This book is leaving me with such an open feeling. I guess what I mean is, it's leaving me with such open and broad thoughts and feelings about the world, about the topics discussed. Don't you love that feeling when a book opens up your world and thoughts in such a large way? THIS BOOK gave me that, and I will forever remember it for that.
