Christi Caldwell's books are all good.. but I feel like the stories are half done. There are always pieces of the story that are left unfinished. I mean never big pieces but pieces that bug me. It makes a 4 or 5 star book turn into a 3.

I'm gonna be honest I didn't get out of this one what I had hoped to. Now, I will say that is partly my own fault for not realizing that this was a novella-length book and partly not because the story deserved to be a full-length novel. There was so much there to unpack, I mean I wish the author had spent a good two or three chapters just putting Imogen's family in place. I don't know why I always despise the heroine's mothers in these books, but this time it extended out to her sibling as well. There was so much development for both characters that I would have loved to see that just wants there.
In general, it's a great premise, with a ton of potential it just didn't pull through in the end. So far I have always been much more intrigued by the side characters and potential couples then the H and h of their respective books, here's hoping that changes with book 4 because I am really excited about this upcoming Duke's story.

I liked this story, both Imogen and Alex are good characters, but I thought their tale was too shallow at times and that the resolution came too easily for them. You know that feeling you get when the book ends and it seems like you skipped a big part of it? That's how I felt about it, that this story was incomplete.
Also, the main characters were good yes, but I was more interested in the secondary characters. And I have to say, I don't really care for Rutland being the villain again, even if he shows up very briefly. And I wish we had a more decisive revenge against Imogen's sister and her husband. Like I said, the story felt incomplete.
