Very reminiscent of Angela Carter’s anthology stories “The Company of Wolves” and “The Werewolf” (which I love) but with a central mystery plot thread whose ending I found somewhat unsatisfactory—perhaps it could have used a slightly longer page count. The eventual allusion to the Mabinogion was intriguing, and overall this novella was a nice homage to folktales and oral storytelling. I’d like to do a closer reading one day

Very fun! It's an engaging mix of an overarching story with 'tall tales' that all end up relating together in ways you don't expect going in.
Graphic: Gaslighting
Moderate: Body horror, Infidelity, Self harm, and Death of parent
