I really enjoyed this book. Like I always say, I like my women powerful and sassy and Reagan Somerset was no disappointment. I also liked that even though there was an obvious attraction to Darius she resisted. I hate insta-love with a firey, burning, passion so the heroine not falling for the hero after a couple very good makeout seshes and his blatant attraction to her as well earned this book pretty huge brownie points.

quick rundown:
Spoiler Reagan is a hella powerful, paranormal bounty hunter on the "The Brink", basically the real world, and this catches the attention of some very powerful, very old vampires when they need help catching a nefarious unknown thing that is capturing and selling unicorn blood on the black market. The vampires have sworn to protect the unicorns and unicorn blood because the blood is highly addictive even for the magical creatures of "The Realm", where all things magical, fae or other live. Enter Darius Durant. Vlad, the oldest and scariest vamp alive, has assigned R to him to work on solving the case together. Darius himself is an elder even though not as old as big V so having him as backup is quite useful. In a sequence of events, the reader finds out that the thing capturing and selling unicorn blood is actually a lady mage turned rogue, and not only is she drinking it herself to give herself a power boost she is also summoning demons into herself to make her even more powerful. The reader also finds out that our girl is so powerful because her mother was basically mage royalty and her father... well... her father is the devil...Like literally Lucifer. This explains why she is so powerful and can infuse things with fireHellfire . Anyway, as the story ends we meet a witch named penny and her story is picked up in the series "Magical Mayhem", which I am very interested in reading too, and Darius killed the mage that was selling the unicorn blood to protect R's secret of being the daughter of Lucifer.

So I enjoyed this book. The problem is that it took me way too long to read it because I just didn't have time to read at all this week. We have been packing and I now have a crawling baby. Reading a physical book doesn't happen for me all that often. So I would read a paragraph here and a page there. I think the book would have been a million times better if I were able to sit down and read more than a couple pages at a time. Because a lot is going on in this book.

Anyways. I am excited for the next book! I just hope I can find the time to actually read it!
