I enjoyed this one more than I was expecting to. I loved how Tom's character developed through the book. I totally fell in love with him by the end.

This was my first Daisy Prescott novel. I went into it mostly blind, and not knowing what to expect. First off I was incredibly impressed with the writing style. A lot of male perspectives can be overly male, which I can understand, but Daisy’s voice as Tom was a refreshing change. I knew I was in Tom’s mind, but I didn’t feel like it was overly dramatized or crass. It was perfectly done, and also very humanly. Tom told his story, and it was thoroughly enjoyable.

“‘If the dimples don’t get them, the dirty talk always does.'”

Tom gets around. He’s exactly like his namesake, Tom Cat, in that he’s a lady’s man in every way. He has that natural charisma, that magnetic appeal, and dimples. And he’s never once been ashamed of who he is, or felt like he needed to change. The girl’s all know the score, he isn’t the settling kind. Aside from my earlier mention of the superb foray into a man’s mind, I also loved his journey. We see him evolve, mature, and change throughout the story, and it’s gradual. The changes are done so smartly (is that a word?) that you can understand and see exactly what is shaping him. And we love him for who he is, both before and after. Because he’s Tom. He’s lovable, sweet, and overall a good guy.

“‘I’m more like the catnip. All the pussies go wild for me.'”

Hailey grew up in the household as Tom’s sister’s friend. She’s now back in town, and she’s all grown up. While we never get to be in her mind, or see her thoughts, I still really liked her. She was a strong, brave woman who went after what she wanted, but she didn’t take any bullshit either. She wasn’t the groveling, sniffling, begging type. She knows who Tom is, and she doesn’t try to change him. She teased and outwitted Tom with every lob he threw at her, and it was enjoyable to see two people such as them come together.

“‘Guys move shit that needs moving. I think it’s in the sacred book of being friends, especially in the men being friends with women chapter. On page forty-two: Have a penis? Thou shall move shit.'”

While I loved this story, I’ll tell you that the last, oh, about 20% made me really love this book. Every piece and detail put into this book was there for a reason, and they all helped further Tom’s journey. The settling of a man is a beautiful thing to watch, and it was just as beautiful to watch it happen to Tom. To watch him embrace what he wanted out of life once the fog was cleared and he actually began to want things. I look forward to seeing him mentioned in later novels to see where they’re at, and to also read the novels that came before this one. I am a fan of Daisy’s from here on out, and you will be too, even if this is your first Daisy novel.

Although this wasn't my favorite in the serious, I'm sad to see the series over. Can't wait for more from Daisy.

Yeah... I kinda Ioved this. It was smart, witty... The banter was great, and Hailey wasn't a pushover at all. The book is part of a interconnected series but stands alone quite well (I only read the first book and now this one) and I didn't feel like I missed out on anything. The author does well to interlace the other storyline from the prior book in a way that you get just enough info to be in the know. I wish more authors knew how to write banter like Prescott and I place this book up there with Jill shalvis and Julie James... I enjoyed this a lot and had plenty of LOL moments.

I like having romance novels from the guy's perspective. It's fun and a change of pace. Especially when it is done well, and this was done well.

Tom was clever, fun, a total manwhore, but an obvious heart of gold. I liked how he really slowly realized his feelings with Hailey, which I think was very realistic. A Tom Cat does not change his stripes in a day.

I liked Tom, but I think my issue was with Hailey. I didn't really get a lot of her character. It would have nice to have had something small from her perspective.

I liked the writer's style though. Might check out more of her work in the future.

Cute and funny

Prescott writes characters who act like real people - no tragic or overly dramatic romances here. Tom and Hailey are adorable, sexy, funny, and totally relatable.
