I’ve finally got round to reading the second book in the Death Note series, and I’m just as impressed by the twists and turns in this one. I loved seeing Light and L try to outsmart each other, and I adored the introduction of Misa Amane, who is a model who becomes infatuated by Light. I was hooked by all the twists and turns that this book had to offer, and I can’t wait to read the rest of them. If you like murder mysteries, thrillers, or are looking to get into manga, then I’d highly recommend reading the Death Note series.

I’ve enjoyed picking up the next volume in this series. It’s nice to see the story develop further. The new layers that have been added are interesting and I'm still enjoying the pace. Will be intriguing to see where these recent developments in the story lead.

After a strong setup in Black Edition Vol. 1, I felt underwhelmed. What makes Death Note stand out is the creative scheming and strategic actions of our main characters outwitting each other with a lot of moral questioning.
The problem with this volume is there's a lack of intelligent manipulation and a heavy dose of characters assuming things correctly based on very little evidence. I did enjoy the introduction of the new characters, especially since one of them is my favorite in the series, and there were new stakes introduced that added a new complicated layer to the plot.
This is a decent continuation for the series but I truly hope it gets better because it's already becoming redundant.
