This one had a very different feel to it than the rest of the series so far. It had much more of the anthropological feel to it and definitely made your brain work a little more to keep everything straight. Not a huge fan of the ending. When I found out who it was I didn’t feel surprised but it was also someone I did not ever consider while reading it. The ending felt as if there was no real closure. You never really quite find out who the bones belonged to.

It's Dr. Brennan vs. Jesus! (CROSS Bones, get it?) This is another one of Reichs' books where she uses real occurrences as a framework for her fiction. It centers around archeological finds of religious importance...specifically the James ossuary & a Jewish fort/citadel that was the equivalent of the Alamo (sorry, returned the book & have forgotten the detail).

Again, too busy for writing reviews, so no real details. Reichs is pretty regular in her writing. Brennan is an alcoholic that everyone drinks around, she constantly puts herself in danger without properly equipping herself for her own safety, etc etc.

Mysteries are not my favorite genre by far, but I had been watching "Bones" on TV, and since I liked it so much I decided to give the series it was based on a shot. I thought I was grabbing the first one at the library, but apparently I grabbed the eighth one. Oops. Read it anyway.

First I must say that the TV show is very loosely based on the books. At least from what I've read. At least in this book. And I like the TV show much better. That said, as mysteries go, this one actually kept me more interested than many. And it was well written and easy to read. I might actually read another one. We'll see. All in all, a good read, for a mystery.

Brennan and Ryan head to Israel and learn about Jesus' history. Interesting and fast paced, another good read from Kathy Reichs.

I’ve rounded up on stars for all these books. Reichs’ writing style is just a bit over-explanatory, and sometimes leans too much toward the “cutesy.” But the stories are good and that helps me overlook the negatives. Cross Bones is the best and most intriguing yet, certainly not a plot that I’ve run across before.
