Compared to the previous books in the series, this one was pretty dull; it’s the transition book, from the war with Hybern from the first books of the series to the wrapping up of loose ends that I imagine will come up in the last book.

There was a lot of talking and reflecting about the horrors of battle and how the characters remain scarred, physically and emotionally, from it. The book is more of a chance to share their current mindset after this horrific event and how their relationships are affected by it.

Rhys and Feyre’s relationship is still lovely- not very realistic because they face no challenges or drama, but still very sweet.

There was almost no mention of Mor’s revelation from last book as well, something I wish had been delved into deeper- hopefully it will in the next book.

Shortest of the series. A time of peace and celebration of the Winter Solstice

how do you write a holiday special and somehow miss all the things that make holidays special??
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again but intentionally marginalizing your characters just so that your non-marginalized main characters can get brownie points for liberating their inferiors is disgusting and completely uninteresting as a plot point. Genuinely so tired of the whole plot line of Rhys and cassian trying to integrate women into the fighting force. It MIGHT work if they had any kind of interaction with the women AND if there was literally any reason for misogyny to exist in the fae but they don’t and there’s not.

A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J Maas - Book 3.5 in the ACOTAR series.

While this was definitely not my favourite book in the series, it was an easy read and quite welcome after AOWAR. I enjoyed the multiple point of views and it felt like I got to know the characters even better. It was nice to look into the regular everyday of the character’s lives and them preparing for the winter solstice after all the events that had taken place in the previous book.

Yes, I will reread the book because I did enjoy it and I will reread them all.

Ehhhh...
It's a cute slice of life, likely to tie up Feyre's storyline so that the narrative can focus on other characters. It's cute, but also kinda empty and frustrating, because there is obviously more story to tell yet the author wants to focus on a new romance since the main one is now established and not providing as much of a thrill for the reader. Her storyline is sloppily tied up with a promise of an attempt at conceiving -- which feels rushed and unnecessary to a seasoned reader.

The mistakes are obvious, and it is a nice cozy read, but kind of a cheap transition, if you ask me.

I really enjoyed this one. It warmed my heart after the turmoil of the previous book.
