I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. Chris's story is beautifully tragic as told by Krakauer. I found I could not put this down as I wanted to see what happened next. I'll definitely read more by Krakauer. He tells a good tale.

Frankly, a deeply sad story about a boy who was profoundly existentially lost … but I guess I get why the young and wistful connect to him so strongly

A book I had trouble putting down... Chris McCandless' story inspires us to question the material society we live in, while also encouraging us to dust off Thoreau and Tolstoy. Though McCandless has been criticized for ignorance and naivety, his story is something we can all learn from. Krakauer reports it as if writing a novel.
