All I can say is that this was a masterpiece. I've never gravitated towards books that aren't fantasy or sci-fi. Atlas one day, bored at work and noticing the audiobook available on Spotify, I gave it a shot. Let me just say, I got hooked.
I really enjoyed the depth of each character, the way the main star of the story discusses her life, the newspaper clippings, and social media reads. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised, and sure as hell gasped out loud when pieces began to fall into place (sorry to all the poor co-workers around me).

This book knows how to dangle a carrot over your head so you keep turning the page.

I’m conflicted about this book. On one hand, I sympathize with the character, but on the other, the story feels a bit too melodramatic for my taste. While I appreciate the emotional depth, it leans a little too much into the “soapy” territory for me.

That said, I absolutely love Evelyn’s relationship with Harry. It reminds me of Elizabeth Taylor’s undying love for Montgomery Clift—unconventional, yet so genuine and profound. It’s relationships like these that give the story real depth, even when the rest feels a bit over the top.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is my new favorite book. It truly is a masterpiece. The chapters go so in depth into Evelyn Hugo’s life, taking the reader on a journey through her younger years in Hell’s Kitchen, her start as an actress, the seven husbands along the way, and into her last years. Despite the amount of detail in every part, somehow Evelyn Hugo still remains a mystery. You are left guessing how Monique’s life intertwines with Evelyn’s until the very end, and then plot twist! This book goes through romance, loyalty, disloyalty, the inner workings of the film industry, body positivity, body negativity, LGBTQ+ in the 1940’s to current, and true love. I cried at least 7 times during this book, it truly was an emotional rollercoaster but I would give anything to read it for the first time again.

Out of my reading slump after reading this book, read this book in one sitting till 1 AM! I read the book so quick, I knew I would need to reread it. No regrets. I want to erase my memory for my next reread in parts where I went ':O' but I saw this book in my dream today. So the only way I forget about it will be after people forget who Evelyn Hugo is.
