Brilliant story, exciting, very well written. Although its very solidly an older childrens book, I (in my late 20s) still found it exciting and surprising in parts. Deal with some serious topics very well. Definitely would recommend for anyone looking for an easy story with lots of magic.

I am fully aware that nostalgia is contributing a lot to this rating, but gosh, this book

I like these a lot though they are hard to read - emotionally… I really hate persecution… *brr*

A meaningful, magical, and at times silly, middle grades book that covers some serious themes like imprisoning people different, abandonment, etc. It kept me guessing and despite being geared for a younger audience I was surprised by some of the plot twists. Recommended.
