It felt like a cheap knock off of john dies at the end. The story was pretty convoluted and confusing. I honestly have no clue what I just read.

I really wanted to like this more than I did.

In theory, this book has probably the greatest idea for a main character I've seen in a long time. A badass stunt double who could actually do all the action sequences books have been trying to tell me random nobodies were able to? Sign me up.

The execution, however, never lives up to it, and neither do the other characters.

I didn't ever plan on reading this, but it turned up on my shelving cart, and . . . well, I was feeling pretty rock 'n' roll that day. Which was 2 days ago, because I read this instead of eating with my family or doing anything productive.

Great 70's punk life (NYC) + relatable modern wannabe stunt woman (LA) + terrifying murderous angels (??) = highly readable, fun, brutal story.

Made me want to put on my steel-toes and kickflip a monster in face.

This book has voice like you wouldn't believe.

I loved the characters, the zing, the life. The depiction of punk culture in the 70s compared to modern-day LA was fantastic, I was thoroughly on board. The dual protagonists had my heart in about 30 seconds, and I was along for the ride.

It got a little gruesome for my tastes once or twice, but overall I thought most of it was well earned and served the plot. It was a really awesome and interesting premise, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series!

wasn’t a big fan of this - story was fine but the main character was obnoxious & I really just don’t have any desire to read about a characters boner / gratuitous come ons which are all sort of gross in the name of “punk culture” which was like 25% of the text it seemed.
