Dorian Gray’s story is a very sad and at times disturbing one, but nonetheless I really loved this book. Wilde’s style is easy to read and he managed to keep the story intriguing until the very last word.
The only thing that bothered me was Lord Henry, or to be more precise: his never ending dialogues. my god. this man talked so much but had so little to say. it was interesting at first but after a view chapters it just seemed as if the Lord answered every question in the same way: always criticizing society for the same things and talking about how exciting and refreshing those who oppose it are. we get it, Henry, you are not like other Lords, you’re very cynical and clever. But would it hurt you to just make one new point once in a while?
I ultimately decided to just skip the longest paragraphs (or rather pages) that contained nothing but Henry’s rambling and i don’t think i have missed any of the actual plot.
However, “The picture of Dorian Gray” was an enjoyable and very recommendable read!
