A Sweet Alaskan Fall was such a sweet installment. I will be honest I grabbed this one up because it has such a nice fall looking cover and was looking for some autumnesque reads for the season. I also wanted to do a second try at a Jennifer Snow. While I enjoyed this, it still had some problematic aspects that did keep this from a 5 star read. I will say that the major aspects of the story were really well done from the character building to the development of the romance and the sexy times were much steamier than I expected from this author (definitely plus in my book). I will say that there were some elements that felt unbelievable at times. There is an element of nude skydiving, I am not sure if thats a thing haha but I am not sure why it would be. I mean (ouch) but its fiction so you just go with the flow. And it does have ghosts in this book, it doesn't deliver on a creepy vibe or anything, but kinda weird as you don't go into this type of contemporary expecting a ghost element to the story. The other issue I had was with the heroine. I am probably the only one with this issue, as I couldn't see this in other reviews, however, I really struggled in seeing why this heroine didn't break things off with a guy she wasn't interested in especially when she was really into someone else. Or why she didn't stand up for herself or who she wanted to be with. I really felt bad for the hero in this one who was so a good hearted man, and he deserved to be treated right and just wasn't and quite frankly way too forigiving on the heroine who hardly had to grovel and she needed to do more sincere groveling. Now that being said, there are some other great elements to the story. I really enjoyed the fall themed aspect to the story, I loved seeing the disability come into play and how it developed the story, the romance for the most part was solid in how it conveyed really strong emotion. I also liked seeing the family aspect to the story. The audio narrator was done very well and I would like to listen to more of this author's work. Overall a solid story despite its negative aspects.

You know how when you read a new book in a series it kind of feels like coming home? You're reunited with friends you've met in other books and get to spend time in a place you love. No? Just me? *shrugs* Regardless, reading Jennifer Snow's Wild River series is like that for me. I had read a not-so-great book and being able to move to Snow's latest book, A Sweet Alaskan Fall, was such a joy. I knew the kind of story I was going to get it and it was so soothing and lovely. Even if I'm not quite ready to say hello to fall.

I had a feeling while reading Under an Alaskan Sky, the second book in the series, that the next book would be about Montana and Eddie. It was almost hard to picture at first because in the second book he was extremely suspicious of her and her motives. But, by the end, you could tell there was an interest there but you didn't know if it would be reciprocated. Montana thinks she's pretty damaged and is focused more on strengthening her relationship with her daughter as well as staying on top of her health. And honestly? That was the best thing for her. Romance could take a back seat - it wasn't the most important. But falling for Eddie just seemed so right. Her daughter already knows him and he's friendly with her new friends plus she really gets a handle on so many things in this book that you can't help but root for the romance to blossom between Montana and Eddie.

And do I have a similar feeling about who the fourth novel will be about, you (don't) ask? Why yes, thank you for (not) inquiring. I had a sense that the next book (out next spring) would follow Eddie's sister, Leslie, and I was correct! It sounds great but heavy and I'm already looking forward to it.

I have to say that this book almost veered off into corny made for tv mystery territory (not that there's anything wrong with those, when done well). I suppose that was to be expected given Eddie's profession as a police officer but I think the subject matter was just a touch too heavy for the romance series Snow is writing.

I think I found Montana's character to be a bit stronger than Eddie's, but maybe that's because I got to know her a bit in the second book. That said, there was a lot more to Eddie than the reader (and Montana) expected and I liked seeing more of him. More of both of them, to be honest. They were a unique couple in that they seemed like opposites but they were a lot more similar than you’d initially expect and in ways that’s kind of hard to describe. Like any great couple, they made each other shine. Their connection may have been unexpected but it was genuine and I loved reading as they fell for each other.

A Sweet Alaskan Fall might have edged out the others in Jennifer Snow's Wild River series as my favourite of the trio. I liked the story, I loved the characters, and I adored how I felt when reading it. This romance novel came along at just the right time and it made for the coziest, heartwarming afternoon when I read it.

*An egalley of this novel was provided by the publisher, Harlequin, in exchange for review consideration. All opinions are honest and my own.*

Happy Reading, friends!

Oh, I just really enjoy this series! We get Montana's love story in the third installment in Wild River. The audio for this series is really enjoyable. Another great love story from Jennifer Snow!

This was probably my least favorite out of the Wild River series. It followed the same formula, but Montana and Eddie were both a little unlikable. I wish their book could have been a novella, and Tyler and Aurora's story could have been a full length book.

I took my first visit to the small Alaskan town of Wild River earlier this year in Jennifer Snow's book An Alaskan Christmas. And came back a little later in Under an Alaskan Sky. In each of those books, the characters grew on me and the town kept being built around me. It's what I love about small town romances. Great interconnected characters and the atmosphere the town gives, along with it being a character in itself. Jennifer Snow continues to do this in the latest novel. And I'm going to keep coming back again and again.

After reading book 2 and getting to know a little more about the character Montana, I knew I'd enjoy reading her as the lead in this one. While her and Tank had issues in the past, they both worked through them and Montana deserved a happy ending of her own. Not only did she need a happy ending, but she also had a journey through her life-changing injury to continue on. This provided much depth to her character and made this book so much more than just a great romance. The same goes for Eddie. I didn't know much about him from the previous books, but he had more than enough room to grow here. These two characters are both strong, determined, and deserving of what they achieved here. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them moving forward, even if it'll probably be as side characters like the previous couples.

This was a great book for me to pick up as fall started taking hold around me and the need to escape into the rugged but beautiful wilds of Alaska becomes more and more. I have a bit of a wait until the next Wild River novel's release, but at least I've kept the novellas on my reading pile to help hold me over.
