"It was so bad, I want to give you a zero, but that's not possible, so I give you a one."

THIS BOOK IS SO BAD. Frankly, it's the worst book I've read. Ever. At first I wanted to give it a two at least, but chapter 13 sealed the deal that this book is absolute trash. I don't understand why anyone would rate this 5 stars. Did we even read the same book? Before chapter 13, the book was at least okay, passable even. But chapter 13 suddenly going smutty without any solid foundation is just a huge NO. I expected a cute scene where they profess their love for each other, not THAT. It was some kind of sick sex fantasy the author had, and it appalled me. The ending did not satisfy me whatsoever. Like, what was the point of that epilogue, really? It did NOTHING.

As expected from this short novel, the characters aren't fully fleshed out, and there is barely any plot or conflict. It's very, very Wattpad. It feels like it's written by a 15-year-old pretending to know how 30-year-olds speak and act. It follows the enemies to lovers trope and ensures to hit all the clichés within said trope. Both the protagonists lack any individuality or uniqueness. They're the typical YA protagonists found in hundreds, if not thousands, of books on Wattpad. It's so bland and common that it feels like you're wasting your goddamn time. It's insufferable. Hours of my life I can't get back. If you want to read a book with substance grounded in realism, THIS BOOK AIN'T FOR YOU HONEY.

after reading the love hypothesis, i told myself i wouldn’t indulge in another ali hazelwood book ever again. however (plot twist!!) i’m a liar.

if there is one thing ms. ali knows how to do is write a secret pining, hate to love romance. and to be honest she does it very well. i really enjoyed this book because it incorporates one of my fave tropes which is roommates. and for a novella this book moved fast and got to the point quickly which i always love in my novellas.

moral of the story: definitely recommend!

This was a super short read. Not too many serious things happening, which is fine change in pace from the more serious (and anxiety producing) fantasy books I've been reading.

I actually loved this one, even as a novella!

When Mara and Liam are forced to be roommates, they try their best to stay out of each other's ways since they swear the other hates them. Seeing how they slowly opened up and realized that they actually enjoy each other's company was so much fun! I loved Liam so much, and they were great together. This story was great for novella length.

One word - Cringey. This was so disappointing! I loved Love Hypothesis, but this book felt like a rough draft. Mara is an engineer and inherits a house - that already has a hot and tall guy named Liam living there. Did I mention he is tall? Because the author did - a lot! They “hate” each other, in a way a middle schooler might write - maybe a middle schooler in juvi because there are a lot of violent thoughts. The only thing we know about her work is no one likes her and she has a sexist boss stealing her work. The rest of the book felt like a backstory and then a jump to one hot sex scene and then nothing. He says “I don’t do sex.” Have you seen a bigger red flag than a 30 year old lawyer is all muscle, and don’t forget tall, and huge - that doesn’t have sex??!! The sex scene is so weird - we talk about condoms but we don’t - apparently they don’t teach sex at the schools for super smart girls interested in science (especially if they are pixie size). The worst use of an epilogue ever.

Super fun. Super cute. In this first book, we have Liam and Mara. They both end up co-owning a house and become reluctant roommates. But animosity turns into friendship which turns into love. And suddenly, Mara can’t imagine living anywhere else. Lots of cuteness. Lots of laughs. Very little angst.
