I've been wanting to read this for over a decade. My mother brought this home probably between '95 and '96 even though it was originally released in '93 according to the copyright.

I've seen the episode based of this novella many times. It's always been one of my favorite episodes even though, to be honest, I've found most werewolf stories to be corny. The other Goosebumps book about werewolves that I've read, 'Werewolf Skin', was unfortunately not what I was expecting, but the episode based off of this book was very well done. So that's the first werewolf story I've enjoyed in my life. The ONLY other two, so far, are 'Cursed' starring Christina Ricci, and Stephen King's 'Silver Bullet' (movie). Otherwise, keep 'The Howling' away from me. That was the dumbest horror film I've ever seen in my life. No offense meant to the people who worked together on that project or to my Mother, who tells me it has the most realistic-looking transformation from human to werewolf that she's ever seen, but it's horrible.

Anyway.

As I said, I loved the episode based off this novella and still do to this day. It's surprisingly NOT a disappointment to find out that the episode actually doesn't match this novella much. Same story, but told two ways, I spose. Still, for the most part, both the episode and Goosebumps #14 at the very least tell the same story.

The way Stine wrote this is VERY descriptive. You can actually place yourself where Grady goes. Stine very clearly did his research or already knew a lot about Swamps.

It was interesting reading about Casse, who never made it to the screen and how the scene with the actual wolf is much, much shorter than it was in the episode. ... I can't say which one I prefer exactly. The ep or the novella, but the novella gets 5 stars from me.

Having to put myself back into thinking about how I would've viewed these books as a child is interesting, especially for the re-reads.
This is one of the better Goosebumps books. The story has multiple suggestions to divert the reader from the true conclusion, and it keeps you guessing and wondering.

I enjoyed this book! I’m loving rereading Goosebumps books and deciding which ones are okay for the children at school to read. This one isn’t too creepy but an intriguing story.

Goosebumps. This is the series that kept me reading through my childhood. More than any other series, Goosebumps kept me interested in reading, and R.L. Stein is a wonderful children's writer. I applaud his efforts, and can't express enough my gratitude for the series.

I was about 6 or 7 when I read this book and it scared me a little bit but it wasn't that bad. This however was the very first goosebumps book I had ever read and it got me hooked even though I'm to old for them I can say I loved them in the past

I love werewolves so I was very excited to read this book. But... literally not much happens. The main character's parents are completely unlikable and the whole book is pretty much just about all of the howling the main character hears at night. It reminded me of Piano Lessons Can Be Murder in that every other page, the narrator talked about the piano music at night. Or in Let's Get Invisible where nearly every page was just about the kids using the mirror. I really wanted to like it but the action didn't pick up right up till the very end.
