I love that Kel's special and mysterious friend is still sending her useful stuff! It's really sweet!

I'm glad that Jump is so loyal and decided to stay with her!

Those harnesses really wore them out! O.o

Poor Kel. Both she and the Lioness really don't want to deal with puberty while getting their shields! :/

Kel did really good defending them from the bandits! Can't believe Lord Wyldon still tried to get a dig in at her about throwing up after! -.-

Page continues the story of Keladry of Mindelan as she continues her training to be the first known female page in living memory. It particularly covers her second, third and fourth years in training, as opposed to the first "probationary" year that was covered in First Test.

Page is yet another great addition to the Tortallan books that Tamora Pierce started with Song of the Lioness.

I still really enjoy Kel as a character, and I find her fitting of the badass title a lot more than the girls I've found in some other books that try to claim so, but not because she's more action-y or whatever. Kel gets no older than thirteen during this journey, and while she sticks out as the girl, she's never necessarily better than them because of her gender. Kel works super hard in her training, actually putting the time into it and it showing by her gaining what would be unsightly muscles on most female protags because she needs to be a strong warrior. She has actual flaws and weaknesses her character while still having ideal traits to her. Her fear of heights may have come to bite her slightly in the butt this time around, but it's still a weakness that she actively tries to solve as opposed to working around it. She also actively deals with things that rarely seem to get mentioned in novels, unless it being plot convenient, like her period and puberty and developing crushes on people without any romance really happening and just wanting to keep it that way, which I highly appreciate as all of those things are very real things that happen but often get ignored in literature.

Page is also alight with a wonderful cast of supporting characters, just like all of Pierce's books, most particularly with the additions of Lalasa and Owen to the cast.

Overall, Page is a wonderful book. It's not perfect by any means, but I still think it's well worth someone's time. I also may have a crush on Kel, but we're not going to talk about that.

Rereading my childhood favorites.

I love a good training arc.

The pace of this one is faster, and the majority of it is character development and Kel working hard and getting stronger, with major and minor incidents along the way.

Beyond the training, she also grows up a bit and gets her first crush. Personally a huge fan that things don’t go further than that haha, but it’s cute.

I adore this book. Kel's book are my favorite in the Tortallverse. The pace is fast and feels a bit lopsided considering this book covers three years, and the third is condensed into a single chapter. Still very enjoyable.

I'm reading the ebook omnibus version this time around and it's definitely got some formatting flaws that aren't present in the physical. A few typos and the scene breaks are nonexistent. They were present in First Test but it seems like they're more prevalent in Page.
