What can I say about this book that hasn't already been said?? The adventure, the friendship, the world, the characters!! I loved this story! As a long time fan of The Lord of the Rings films, I was so anxious to finally read the book series, and I was not surprised that it did nor disappointment. JRR Tolkien weaves together such a beautiful story with an equally beautiful world. He is truly a wonderful story teller and I found that many parts of the book were relatable, even though it takes place in a fantastical world. My FAVORITE part of this book was the friendship and community between the members of the fellowship. Frodo and Sam's friendship had me tearing up at multiple parts! I admired the dedication of the members of the fellowship to carry out their task and support Frodo to the end. And not to mention the wonderful side characters who help the company along the way!! Such a wonderful example of how community and people can help and encourage one another even in dark times. So happy I finally finished this first installment. Okay, I am done gushing now! Please read if you have not already!!

I think that Fellowship of the Ring, although a little slowpaced to begin with, is an amazing book. The first 100 pages or so are very slow, and I've had several friends quit because of that. But if you keep reading you will find an engaging fantasy adventure with a beautifully crafted world, characters and storyline continuing throughout the whole trilogy.

Entering my reviews over from my old Goodreads profile I unearthed recently...here are some super sappy thoughts from 2011-era 16-year-old Claire!
At first, the verbose text took some getting used to, considering I was accustomed to the fast, brisk pace of the movies. But once I settled in, I completely enjoyed myself.
