Some blush worthy scenes in this medieval romance. A little more hot and heavy than I anticipated.

A great novel, if you like historical. Lovely secondary characters, but mostly wonderful main characters. Willow and Bannor is perfect for each other even if they don't know it.
It is a sweet and funny tale about how to learn to trust and that it is not always blood that defines a family.

On the down side, there were some things that annoyed me.
Both Willow and Bannor were making me mad with how stupid they were and how they were incapable of actually talking to each other, even after they get together. I would like think that communication was the key even in the dark ages... And I could not stomach how Willow so easily put her trust in her stepsister. We did learn early on in the book that she really disliked her and that the stepsister was a vain egocentric bitch.
I also didn't care for Bannor in the beginning as he was weak and had no backbone what so ever. He got better as the story unfolds, but it took time. I hated the prank-parts of the books, especially when it turns to full out war of childishness.

Out of context those pranks were funny and made me chuckle. I did how ever enjoy this book a lot and would really recommend it as a relaxing read.

Do I think this is a particularly well-plotted or historically accurate romance novel? No.

Did I enjoy reading about an ever-increasing brood of children tormenting the hero? Yes.

There were parts of this that were really sweet and fun, but overall it fell short of my expectations. It was a Cinderella retelling, which was fun. But the romance felt weak and so did the story at different points. Mostly the kids and Netta were the bright spot. Bannor was difficult to love

2.5*. A well written lighthearted read, this just didn't quite cut it for me. Maybe I wasn't in the zone for a border line silly book. I think you have to be very much in the mood to appreciate this.

Is Mediaeval comedy romance even a thing?

Read this if you're in need of a quick dose of fluffy wuzzy cozy romance set in a stone castle, and if you l like The sound of music plus Dennis the menace plus Cheaper by the dozen. It has many funny moments that help overseas the lack of a plot or character building or better chemistry between the heroine and the hero.
