I have to admit I had no idea what I was getting into when I picked this book up at my local bookstore. I hate to admit I’ve never even watched films with Carrie Fisher or not that I remember…? Any who! This book was amazing. I laughed out loud while also feeling on the verge of tears from the real life moments the narrator (assistant) had. This book was about growth and reflection and learning to embrace all the ugly in your life while learning you can always move past it even if you have to hurt along the way. It was a beautifully written piece and I hope it’s enjoyed by many!

All the characters are insufferable and just so much about worshiping the same BS that the character criticizes Hollywood for

Honestly, i should never have started this. It was an interesting concept but the writing was a little weird and i am in the middle of ACOTAR so I just couldn't focus on the 2 at once.

Sometimes funny, sometimes good, mostly trivial and lacking the humor I was expecting from a character obviously inspired by Carrie Fisher. I guess you should follow the author's advice and actually read Carrie Fisher's books. They are actually quite hilarious.

Dnf. It feels like the author is trying too hard.

This book grew on me. It had a slow start. It took quite awhile before I had any empathy for the characters. I enjoyed the growth of the characters by the end. Just wish there had been more depth from the beginning.

I won't say I didn't read this quickly (because my library hold was about to expire, and because it has quick flow) and I won't say it wasn't slightly entertaining (Kathi Kannon is nothing if not entertaining). And I don't want to trash this as the author is currently recovering from cancer...

But. You simply cannot read this book, which the author claims was inspired by but not actually what happened when he was personal assistant to CF and not feel like, well, like it is exactly what happened. And that makes it hard to enjoy because your reading about the antics of a dead person who can't rise up and say, no, it didn't happen like that! It feels ghoulish.

Other negatives. Why oh why would you name Kathi Kannon's mother Gracie Gold?! That is the name of a pretty famous figure skater and that's all I could think about. No bueno.

Too much name dropping for the sake of name dropping. You put a bunch of famous names in a hat and shook it up. Wow.

The perfect boyfriend. Hey ,he just materialized out of nowhere and was perfect, wasn't he? I mean, I wish life was that damned easy!!!

The good: Kathi. She was a trial but she at least had a personality. The trip to the Aurora Borealis. That was lovely.

Next!
