i don't recommend reading this before watching the live adaptation. the time-skips are not always coherent and sometimes there's a flashback inside of a dream inside of a talisman-induced recollection inside of a-- you get the idea

i'm gonna make this quick
las primeras 700 páginas me gustaron caleta, de verdad que sí. hay un par de detalles que me perdí por temas de traducción, pero después se aclaraban bien y entendía todo. la historia está super bien hecha, explora muchos personajes y muchos temas, y parece ser súper disperso pero al final todo tiene sentido y cierra de una forma muy genial? el tema su she siento que quedó sin cerrar, pero es uno dentro de miles así que lo perdono. buena construcción de personajes, muy buena la historia, nada más que decir.
de verdad que fui fan de la relación entre wei wuxian y lang wangji? me gustó mucho todo el desarrollo, ver cómo fueron en el pasado y sus interacciones, me reí harto, de verdad que fui fan. pero después se puso bien turbia la cosa y me ensució mucho el libro? yo entiendo que this is ancient china y que en la traducción se pierden detalles, pero en todas las discusiones que leí y gente tratando de explicar la situación del consentimiento, de verdad que no me terminan de convencer. there wasnt consent, y que wwx termine enjoying himself doesnt make up for it? y sé que después cuentan que tiene un r4p3 k1nk pero de verdad que everything here is disturbing. y me da pena porque me gustó mucho el libro, y si hubieran tratado bien esta situación de verdad que le habría puesto 5 estrellas, porque me gustaba mucho la relación que tenían wwx y lwj, pero no entiendo como tanta gente lo ha dejado pasar y esto tiene tan buenas reseñas, gives me the creeps.
en fin, no voy a leer los extras y que esto termine aquí, voy a ver el donghua y la serie de netflix porque probablemente no tengan las escenas que me generaron conflicto y así quiero recordar la historia, pero me decepcionó mucho y qué pena tbh.

Obviously this is a translated work. Atm the only completed translation I know of is exiled rebels, which is a decent and understandable translation and I think conveys the details of the world and plot without error while still being an easy read.  The translation I think does assume a certain familiarity with translated danmei and xianxia that the popularity of mdzs/cql has made this a less certain assumption. I would recommend the in progress translations of mdzstranslation.wordpress.com (more idiomatic and slightly more cultural referece)  and tamingwangxian.wordpress.com (focused on retaining the original intent). For people more interested in the romance I would recommend reading mdzstranslation -> exiled rebels, for people interested in engaging with the cultural elements I would recommend reading all three. Regardless I recommend taming wangxian's meta if you plan to engage with the text at all beyond the romance.

Other reviews I think speak to the well done world building, characterization, and central romance. Any translation you read will have will convey these elements and all of them are worthwhile.

MXTX tends to have heavy themes in her books but her POV characters never dwell on them. Nothing is sat with for a super long time or dwelled on imo.
