I genuinely have no idea why this is such a popular book. If this is considered relatable to men, I'm losing hope for the dating scene. Nothing was compelling in this book, the protagonist grated on my nerves and lacked so much sense.
I've seen some compare this book to chicklit for men ("dicklit") and maybe that's why this was such a bad book for me, but at least chicklit is mostly feel-good, etc. I swear 80% of this book is about a mid-30s British dude whining about his life and women, and it's not even pathetic in a sympathy-inducing way.

i had a hard time getting through high fidelity. i think the presence of john cusack in the film version does a lot to redeem an otherwise pretty irredeemable protagonist.

I should've listened to Taylor's "High Infidelity" instead of reading this book.

fab book, witty and full of great music references. frustrating main male character with a weird attitude to women! funny but also a scarily revealing look into men’s brains lol. classic Nick Hornby, brilliant throughout.

Strong start, but fizzles towards the middle. It was like anticipating good sex and being granted mediocre sex. Both character Rob and Laura just kind of settled for one another.
